Trick or treat....

Last night was the Becker Halloween bash. I got to see a lot of my Becker buds and got to have fun and dance around.

I left the dance around 11:30 (it ends at 1:00) so that I could get some sleep. I knew I had class in the morning and work so I thought "I'll be responsible and go home now so I won't be dead in the morning"
On my way home, something happened to me that is probably the scariest thing I've ever experienced in my life.

I was stopped at a red light, waiting for the green arrow. I was singing along softly with the music when all of a sudden I felt the impact of a car smashing into the back of my car, going so fast that I was propelled several feet forward into the intersection.

Looking back on the impact is sort of surreal. As surreal as it was to me as it was happening. At first I didn't realize what was happening. I felt the initial impact and then everything started to shake and vibrate around me. I closed my eyes and felt my car being pushed forward. Felt my head snap forward and crash back. I screamed at the top of my lungs with my eyes shut tight. I really can honestly say I've never been so scared.

I didn't know what to do after my car stopped moving. I just sat there shaking violently. I looked out my window and saw two guys asking if I was alright.

"oh my gosh, don't get out of the car." one of them said. I realized why he was overreacting after I got out of the car and looked down at my dress and body that were covered in fake blood. Throughout the night I had to continually explain that I had just come from a Halloween party and was not injured. This was probably the only funny part of the entire night.

My car ended up not being too bad. I've gotten a minor hit by someone before (who drove away) and my car was completely fine then. Ursula is a tough bitch. But the back bumper is falling off and the back license plate is gone and the muffler is down and dragging. And because of this I was pulled over on my way home after the accident :/

So I guess last night I got a trick instead of a treat.

My "Little Voice" is Defective

You know how everyone has their little voice in their head that tells them what to do, what to say, and what not to do and say?

I think mine is defective. It works... but sporadically. Instead of talking to me in a soothing and encouraging tone, it blurts things out in a panicked pitch.

I like to think that most of the time, I'm pretty conscientious of the "right thing" and the "wrong thing". I never have a problem with morals. I do however, have a problem my my little voice making me look like a bumbling insecure idiot.

Almost twice a week, sometimes more often, my voice will blurt out a joke and I'll say it out loud... and then when I don't get a great response to the joke, my voice will shout "OH MY GOSH YOU HAVE TO FIX THIS NOW. Try this, I promise it will make the situation better!"

And then I try whatever remedy my voice wants, usually a long, dull, and awkward explanation of the joke. And every time, it makes the situation worse. And then my voice will compensate by telling me to go on the offensive... which I think we all know, never goes over well.

Me: "We should totally watch So You Think You Can Dance this week!"
Jordan: "I don't need to. I already know all the dances. Ever."
My little voice: Ask him to show you how to do a fancy dance he's never heard of!
Me: Oh yeah (smugly) then show me the VietnameseWaltz!!
Uncle Paul: ............. Vietnamese? It's Viennese... like Vienna...
My little voice: ABORT! Tell him you know what you're talking about and that it's not your fault the people on the show pronounced it wrong! OFFENSIVEEE!

And well.... you can guess the rest.

Twitch and Kherrington from SYTYCD doing a Vietnamese Waltz

My voice is usually the reason for my inexplicable clumsiness too. Without my voice I would probably be able to walk passed someone in the hallway with minimal awkwardness and moderate grace. But with my voice, this would be a more accurate account:

Me: walking along in a straight line, see a person. Smile, "Oh hello."
Person: "Hey, Morning." walks passed me.
VOICE: "Turn that way!! He totally thinks you're a loser for being weird and smiling so big and waving for too long!"
Me: Awkwardly look away and walk fast around a corner and bump into a different person.
VOICE: "Oh my gosh now the first person thinks you're crazy and a loser and this new person is totally judging you for being clumsy. Way to go!"
Me: Sink into a dark twisty abyss.

If you think I'm joking about this I'm totally not. My voice actually says stuff like this to me.

One day I'll rise above my little voice!

Ninja me, getting ready to kick some little voice ass

"Taylor!: The College Years" Series Finale Date Officially Set

Don't worry, I'm not dead!! I just decided to grow up and be a real adult. Like with a job and stuff.  So I've been busy doing work and being all productive and have neglected my blog and its diehard fans ;)

I was just reading Jenny's blog again. It made me feel inferior because her style is so relatable and quirky. She has no problem capturing my attention and holding it there. But of course, it doesn't hurt that she's basically me minus two years. I was her RA her freshman year at Becker and now she is a second year RA.

I was on facebook and saw that all of the Becker RA's moved back today and start training soon. If I hadn't had such a terrible year last year, I would probably be jealous of them.

As much of a pain in the butt RA training can be, it still can be a lot of fun and there's no other time throughout the entire year when you'll feel as close to all the other RA's as you do during training. And it's also so much fun being there together without any residents. It's almost like being at camp.

The best part for me during training last year was being a seasoned RA and being allowed to act out a scene during "Behind Closed Doors". I won't give too much away because some newbie RAs could be reading this.... but I will say that it was the performance of the century!

Although I won't be returning to Becker this year as an RA, I will be returning for one last class. I'll be taking Primatology in the fall as the final chapter in my Undergrad career. Is there more schooling in my future? You never know.... but for now, I think I'll be content to just lay the series to rest and work for a while to try to pay off the loans that are hanging over my head :/

Adopt! Don't buy or breed!

I posted on my facebook asking what people want to see me write about and one of the comments I got was pet stores, like Debbie's Petland which was just closed down.

I am a strong believer in adoption of animals and I am against puppy mills and also professional breeders. I don't think that people should be breeding animals for a profit when there are so many unwanted animals in shelters that have to be euthanized everyday. Why should people be allowed to breed dogs to make money when thousands of dogs are being killed everyday across the country because there are too many of them in the first place. I believe that buying a dog from a "reputable breeder" is almost as bad as buying a dog from a puppy mill.

I'm not here to preach at anyone and you're allowed to get your dog whichever way you want. But I do advise that people adopt animals. There are simply too many unwanted dogs (and other animals) in the world for people to be greedy and try to make money off of breeding. And the people who are buying these dogs need to understand that just because your dog doesn't come from a licensed breeder with a bunch of pedigrees and trophies, doesn't mean that you aren't getting a great pet. You can still get pure bred dogs from rescue leagues if that's the reason you don't want to adopt.

But on the other end of that, "mutts" or mixed breed dogs are generally healthier animals anyway because they are not ruined by the genetic defects caused by selective breeding, like hip dysplasia.

I used to be part of an organization called "Dogs Deserve Better" which was focused on keeping people from chaining up their dogs outside. They were also advocates for adopting dogs. I made this youtube video while I was part of the organization, about the awful consequences of chaining a dog.

Great photos that I forgot I had

Well hello again! I have an interview tomorrow which probably means that I will be getting 0 sleep tonight (that's the number zero... which means no sleep) because I have extreme problems with anxiety! So I'm blogging again because I realized I have a bunch of photos that I can share with you guys. While on duty this semester and at some other random times, I was able to take photos of some pretty funny things. And now I'm finally getting around to posting them.

This one is a photo of Whitney pretending to lick a cup that's shaped like a lady. We found it at the mall and she almost bought it to bring to our RA training dinner.

This was after a huge snow storm at school my car got plowed in BIG time and I was supposed to take my car to the Worcester campus for class 20 minutes after this was taken. Obviously that didn't happen. I shoveled myself out that weekend and it took almost 2 hours with the help of a sidewalk plow!

This was taken one night on duty outside one of the houses on campus. Its a huge (probably was about 4 feet tall) icicle that was plunged into a snow bank. I thought it was really cool looking.

This is my brother Jordan, in a box.

This is a photo of the inside of my desk drawer in my dorm room. Obviously the occupants from previous years had more fun than I did.

This is a poster that was hanging up in one of the dorms. I saw this while on duty and got really confused. If you know what this is supposed to mean, leave me a comment.

Nick and I got really bored and filled this orange juice bottle with ripped up napkins.

Twister on spree day was a blast! That's Courtney's butt.

Found this on duty. Basically the college freshman care package.

This is a picture of the rig I had to set up in order to capture my brother's cat and transport him. He was too wild to fit into a small cat cage so I rigged a mouse trap and got him to go into a dog crate and then we had to tape a blanket over it so he wouldn't attack us through the bars... fun day haha.

I put paint tape on my mom's back...

I taped a cheese puff to Tim's door. It stayed there for quite some time...

My mom is an animal whisperer.... slash my animals are obsessed with food...

I'm a ninja. WHAT?! I actually just have my jacket on backwards with the hood up over my head and unsnapped so I could breathe... but I bet I fooled you!

Someone left this bowl and spoon on a tree outside on campus... they had to have their bowl, had to have cereal.

The inside of the milk jug that was in my fridge for a long time. It was yellow liquid and a big solid white square in the middle. Fantastic haha

Nick being creepy with Rebecca Black and her awkward limo friends.

Me partying it up with doglover!

I had this paint drawing saved on my computer..........

My friend Austin sent me this photo of me that he edited....

A photo that I had planned on posting to my facebook on spree day...It never happened.

He wasn't too thrilled that I interupted his down time while I was on duty... but I doubt he was actually reading that magazine because it's upside-down....

I don't give a chapstick!!

Everyone is talking about Osama being dead. And I do believe TMNTyler said it best.

But really, I do give a chapstick. I just tend to rebel from what the majority of people my age think is important. So here's my requisite post of Osama Bin Ladin biting the dust.
